PROJECT DETAILS
Glossopdale Devils Inline Hockey Club wanted a new website due to the old system looking outdated, unprofessional and lacking updated content. After correspondence with the club's chairman and manager a new system was planned and designs were drawn up to the approval of both chairman and manager. Club players also had an input as to what the site would feature via a questionnaire asking them what they wanted on their website. This allowed me to know exactly what what would be required in order for the website to be successful and actually used by club players.
The website had to be a dynamic website in order for the latest fixtures, results and news articles to be posted on to the site easily. A MySQL database was built to store all of the website data, ranging from player profile to news articles. It was also necessary for the club chairman and manager to be able to add content to the site, meaning a back-end admin panel would be required to enter information into the database. PHP was used to extract the data from the database and to display the content on the specific pages throughout the site.
The site has been a success, and is used by all Devils players, and club staff are able to easily post relevant information onto the site quickly and efficiently. The site also features a message forum, which is widely used by many players from the club and even rival teams.
The site is constantly under development and is currently undergoing a new front end interface design which is hoping to be launched soon.
